Parents! Are you looking for valid information about the dangers of alcohol, marijuana, and prescription and OTC drugs?

Children across the country are being bombarded with choices that we wish they would never have to make. But the reality is that some of the most dangerous drugs are readily available in our own medicine cabinets in our own homes. Parents need to know about the items available to their children in their homes, as well as the homes of others. Take a look at the website at http://srslychelsea.org/facts.html for more information about the dangers of these substances and tips for children and parents toward avoiding the substances effectively without straining interpersonal relationships.

Students at MS Without Supervision Will Be Asked to Leave
Notice regarding home sporting events: Students are not allowed to be in the building after school to wait for home games to begin unless they under direct supervision of a teacher or coach. Any students found in the building after 2:45 pm will be asked to leave and not return until 4:15. Parents please be sure you know where your students plan to be after school.
Dangerous Synthetic Drugs on the Market - Parents Beware
There are synthetic drugs that are marketed and sold as herbal incense across the United States, including Michigan, Jackson County, and online. They are being touted as “legal pot” or “fake weed”. They are carrying product names such as K2, Spice, Blaze, and Black Mamba. They were not intended for human consumption, but have found their way onto the market because kids can use them to get high and they are very difficult to detect in typical drug tests. Even though they are now illegal in Michigan, marketers continue to create new forms of the drug. Parents need to become familiar with the dangers these drugs present to their children. Click here to understand where the drug came from, how it is marketed, and what is being done to prevent its distribution. This is a large file. If you have problems opening it, call 522-5544 or e-mail dmoeckel@grasslakeschools.com and a copy will be sent to you.
Lunch Account News
You may check your child’s lunch account balance on line. Go to www.grasslakeschools.com In the Gold bar go to Departments and from there choose Food Service. Towards the bottom of the Food Service page is a spot with directions. ALL PARENTS WILL NEED TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT even if you had already done this last year. We had problems with this site and all passwords were wiped out. If you have any questions please contact food service director Carlene Pindzia at 517-522-5597
Lunch Account Deposits:
Please send in any money that needs to be deposited into your child’s lunch account in the following manor:
• Please do NOT send cash unless you put it in an envelope with the child’s name and lunch # on it
• Please have the child’s name on the check or envelope (some students do not have the same last name as parents and it makes it difficult to tell which account to put it in.)
• Please instruct all students to deposit their lunch money in the drop slot in the kitchen door when they arrive at school. The teachers do NOT collect it and this gives the Kitchen time to put it in the correct account on the check or envelope (some students do not have the same last name as parents and it makes it difficult to tell which account to put it in)
